Being Good at It Doesn't Mean You Know How to Teach It.
We’ve all heard the stories about the legendary Japanese “instructor training program”… months of training, grueling abuse, bloody gis, broken noses.
Yeah,… that’s great.
When we think of instructor training we think in terms of education, training philosophies, pedagogy, coaching methods, group vs. individual critique, dojo management, and an endless number of additional considerations one makes when committing to teach others. Members of the Shuhari Technical Fellowship are currently in the process of developing a comprehensive Instructor Training & Certification program based on real-world concerns and including seminar training and an accompanying online certification course.
